It is a New Year and my first Market is this weekend!!
January 11, 2017 in Blog
Wow it seems only yesterday that I let you know I was having a break – but it was three weeks ago – I hope that it went wonderfully for you and that you had a magical Christmas Break. For me and my hubby, we gardened, slept in, had friends over and drank too much lovely champagne. Needless to say I am now back at the gym, off the champagne and eating clean again …. it had to happen.
So what news – well….. the calendar is now up and will be added too as I know dates for my permanent but irregular markets. I love the markets and I love meeting so many gorgeous people … such fun. This year I am permanently at Hall Markets (up the top on the grass – yay), at the Queanbeyan market under those fantastic trees and at Three Sixty Fashion Markets (still waiting for the dates of those)….. I will also do Murrumbateman Field Days and will do the Canberra Christmas Market (this may be the last one unless they update and really market it) plus a number of fetes and fairs. Makes me tired thinking about it.
My products:
I seem to have products now that work for people – while still keeping with the retro tattered edge, and that I like to make. I am very lucky in that I can keep myself occupied by doing several different things – I would get bored doing the same old! And the markets I am my customers love my variety!! So how good is that!!
This year I will have vintage and kids aprons for sale – I am going out of the men’s aprons and the retro character aprons though as they didn’t sell as well as I had hoped – I will still bring them to the markets however and sell them for $30 which is a steal!!

cute girls in my aprons
My Rosie bands were the hit of November and December and I will definitely keep these going – with a new line of vintage infinity scarves making their appearance in late Autumn trimmed with old lace and fabrics.

wearing a Rosie Band – love them!!
The Vintage Tea-Cup pincushions are still as popular as ever…. I have thought about giving them up but it seems you still love them – so they are here to stay (5 years on)

Tea cup pin cushions – still popular
The Garden Totems and Bird Feeders will continue through summer and lessen off for winter (of course) but I have soooooo much stock to make up – I think I will have a bit bit of fun in winter making up my spring stock – and I have a new tool I need to try out too.

my key rings (these are in production without their rings)
I always have some sort of jewelry – simply because I enjoy fiddling – I have started making statement necklaces and earrings which went well for Christmas – so I am adding bracelets made from old watches for the markets this year – they will probably make their appearance in late Autumn also ….. My keyrings are doing well – the new larger format and the board have helped so these will keep on going strong.

Statement necklaces with matching earrings
The thing that is changing is the Just Like Me Dolls – I still have a lot of stock of dolls and need to do a repaint soon. These dolls are now going to be entirely on Etsy from February, for every doll sold $12 will go to raise money for our work with Dress a Girl Around the World and Days for Girls…… have a look at our Sew for a Girl Canberra website

the dolls will raise much needed funds for Sew for a Girl Canberra to send dresses and Days for Girls Packs to gives around the world
The other exciting thing is that I will have these cute bags to sell at the markets which you can use time and again for $12. They are heavy quality canvas which I appliqued our signature washing line on ….. so buy one and help us do this important work

Our shopping bags – aren’t they cute??
I hope to see you this weekend at the Queanbeyan Market 9am to 1pm off Lowe Street … it is supposed to be 28 degrees – I am hoping so!!
Love
Carol
